Quakers were one of the first churches to talk openly about sexuality. Since we try to live our lives respecting 'that of God' in everyone we would want to treat all people equally. We feel that the quality and depth of feeling between two people is the most important part of a loving relationship, not their gender or sexual orientation.

I disagree with Britain Yearly Meeting on this issue. Its postion on sexuality is counter to God's commandments. Marriage is between a man and a woman and sexual relations are only permitted between a married man and his wife. There are no exceptions to this commandment.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your views truthinlifeful. I apply the guidance of 'love one another' to this and all human relationship issues.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure if it is entirely clear that god's commandments are clear. There are rules on incest it would seem.
ReplyDeleteIf two people of the same gender feel they want to have a commitment between themselves and god i am as happy to witness that as I am to witness that of a marriage between a man & a woman.
indeed, love one another...
